Dannielynn Birkhead's new look deserves its own epic opening credit.
Larry Birkhead shared a rare photo of his daughter—whom he shared with the late Anna Nicole Smith—as the father-daughter duo embarked on a cosplay and character-filled weekend at Power Morphicon in Pasadena, Calif.
Larry posted several photos of the 17-year-old on Instagram Aug. 26, writing, "Dannielynn got to meet some of her favorite actors from Japanese live-action television."
While the convention originally began as a place to celebrate the Power Rangers franchise—and the long running Japanese show it was based on, Super Sentai—the con has since expanded to include guests from Tokusatsu shows, which is a Japanese term for life-action movies or series that use heavy special effects.
And Dannielynn definitely got in the fun, cosplaying as three of her favorite characters from the series Kamen Rider: Hino Eiji, Ankh and a special version of Eiji being possessed by Ankh from the show's 10th anniversary special, with Larry noting her costume came complete "with Ankh's (Greeed) bird-style hand and feather infused hair."
"This is the first stop and pre-celebration for Dannielynn's upcoming birthday celebration!" Larry added, referring to her milestone 18th birthday on Sep. 7. "The countdown begins now! Next up Japan."
Dannielynn has previously discussed her love for Japanese culture, telling E! News at the Kentucky Derby in May that she plans to double major in forensic science and Japanese studies when she gets to college.
"I really have loved forensics ever since I was a kid. I would watch Dateline all the time," she explained. "So I just find it really interesting, and I also love Japan and the culture and the language. So I was like, 'Oh, I can do those two things I love.'"
In fact, Larry shared on Instagram at the time that Dannielynn's Derby outfit this year—a scarlet Badgley Mischa dress with ruffled sleeves, a belted gown and a matching orchid Jane-Rose Zupetz fascinator—"was inspired by her favorite character Hino Eiji, Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDor combo."
"She made me write that," he joked, "because that character had the same shoulders as the design of the dress she found! Hey whatever works, just trying to spend a little quality time as this weekend of traditions come to a close."
And the two have truly made it a special celebration to attend the Kentucky Derby every year, which not only gives them a chance to spend time together, but to also honor Anna Nicole—who died 17 years ago due to an overdose at the age of 39—because it's the place she and Larry met.
But interestingly enough, the father-daughter tradition started as an accident.
"One year the babysitter canceled," Larry explained to E!. "And then it became I brought her when she was able to kind of walk and do her own thing down the carpet, and then it became a tradition."
The 51-year-old continued, "I brought her back here for a reason, because it was something that was special. And it's become a tradition for us out of me meeting her mom here."
